We stayed at Maison D’Hotes Sahara on 26th September 2018 and had a wonderful experience there. The room was very spacious and comfortable with views out to the mountains and the Palmeria below. It is beautifully decorated with each room on the top floor freestanding, with a large terrace outside. We were able to do yoga on the terrace on top of a beautiful rug with cushions, laid out for the guests. The family that owns and runs this hotel are friendly and very rich in their heritage. They dressed us up as Berber women, danced with us and generously shared their culture with us. It was such a privilege to stay there. Now I must also mention the food, which was delicious, plentiful and beautifully presented. I can’t speak highly enough of this place and absolutely recommend that you stay there on your way to the desert.

Our stay at Maison d'Hotes Sahara was the highlight of our trip. The host, Said, was one of the most genuine guys that I have ever met in this world - not only did we feel right at home, we also felt like we have made a new Moroccan friend. Said speaks perfect English, and he's just simply a lovely guy to chat to. The dinner we had here was hands down the best meal we had in Morocco, it was made by real local people behind this family-owned hotel. Our terrace room (spotless and spacious) had an amazing view of the ziz valley. I spent most of that peaceful afternoon staring into the spectacular canyon sunset and people-watching cheerful school kids and donkeys passing by the road in front of the hotel - until the moon came out. This hotel is off the main road which allows you to get away from the hustle bustle of the town and embrace the real Morocco country life. Overall - 5 stars and highly recommended!

Absolutely beautiful ‘oasis’ and the most welcoming hosts. Highly recommend. The food is the best we’ve had in Morocco. If you come, walk around the area and see the Berber villages.

Finding this hotel really feels like discovering a secret. On the road to Merzougha from Fez, we stepped off the beaten track and into another world. Descending through a gorge, out of the harsh desert landscape we entered a real oasis cared for by a whole village and after you pass through the village, a rather grand hotel looms up, set into the side of the gorge and run by a beautiful family. Said welcomed us at the door and looked after us all evening. The hotel has a central courtyard which runs up through the building, with many sweet little places to sit, full of cushions and comfort, and views across the oasis and the gorge. Quite incredible. A set of rooms sits on each corner of the rooftop where you can take in a breathtaking gorge out across the oasis to the golden rocks on the other side, down to the road with donkeys, school children, women, men... or up to an array of bright stars at night. Just before sunset Said directed us on a walk through the oasis, in between date and olive trees, where we met people on the way, offering dates, or amusing mimed conversation... And then a meal which was simply knockout. A set of little salads, each with a unique flavour (amuse bouche, I think it's called!) a flavoursome soup and a most incredible main meal... the scents of which had been wafting through the building for a few hours. Then dates stuffed with almonds, a bowl of pomegranate and mandarin... anyway, the whole thing is divine. After dinner my family lay on the terrace and watched the stars, before retreating into our cozy room. Breakfast was similarly huge, and delicious with many different flavours. Thanks Said - you and your family, and this place, is unique. Wifi is a bit wobbly, but who cares. We're in a remote village in southern Morocco... We're feel lucky!

Truly an oasis overlooking a Palmerie with the cliffs of the Ziz Valley directly behind you. A special experience with Said and his family much more than a typical hotel stay. We were welcomed as though we were old friends. The dinner delicious, the view from our large comfortable room outstanding. The tour of the Palmerie in the morning by Said insightful into the life of this Berber village and worthwhile. If you are traveling between the desert and Fez break up your journey and stay here.

This place is a hidden gem! Don't miss it if you are in the Errachidia / Merzouga area. The women running this Hotel are extraordinary friendly and charming people. The food was one of the best we had so far and we learned a lot about the daily life at the oasis. Stay at least two nights there!
