La Terrasse Du Jardin

I have been in Marrakesh for a month and this is the third time I’ve been back to this place. The chicken tagine here is the best (it’s never dry, always perfectly cooked) I’ve had in Marrakesh so far and the service from Hossni and the hosts have made me a return customer. Shukran!

The whole meal and experience was very pleasant. Sat on a rooftop with a nice view of the nearby park with kids playing football and having fun. Abdelaali was a great server and made sure everything went well!

Nice vibe, shady payment practices The atmosphere here is genuinely lovely — good energy, and it looked a nice spot for a pre-flight drink. That’s where the positives end. Before ordering, I specifically asked whether they accepted card. They said yes. When the bill came (~100 Dirhams), they suddenly refused card — only accepted above 200. Fine, I tried to pay in euros. They agreed. Then refused my coins. Then had no change for larger bills. Their solution? Use their in-house ATM. I was heading to the airport. Not happening. The whole experience felt like a deliberate runaround designed to pressure customers into withdrawing cash on their machine. Whether that’s the intention or just poor communication, it leaves a very bad taste — especially after an otherwise enjoyable visit. Sort out your payment policy, be upfront about it, and train your staff to be consistent. Until then, bring exact cash or avoid the headache.
