Riad Zawia

Riad Zawia is a perfect place to spend your time in Essaouira, the rooms are incredibly clean, the hosts are incredibly kind and generous and the location is close enough to the markets to make it easy to explore and far enough away that it is private. The room was perfectly tidy and clean for us when we arrived, the rooms are on the darker side, as is usual in Morocco, and are also nice and cold which is wonderful when you have just walked in. The bathroom is clean and they do provide towels and soap. The water pressure, at least in our room, was a little weak but other than that the bed was comfortable and the room was nice and big. The hosts, Zara and Hamid, are exceedingly generous with their time and effort, and are so so helpful both with boiling us water and with telling us where the good places to visit were. There is breakfast in the morning at €6 per person. It is clear that they put a lot of effort into preparing a lovely big breakfast and take a lot of pride in their work. The location is on the opposite side of the Medina from where you will likely get dropped off and you will need to walk to get to it, but it is not too far to walk. I would recommend walking to the hotel first and dropping off bags before looking around. It is next door to a lovely little cafe that is the perfect place to hang out in the morning or get some coffee. Tips of Essaouira IN GENERAL. -There are no card machines. At all. Get used to carrying cash. -Most places take euros but not all. Make sure to have some Dirhams. -It is very windy so bring a hoodie. You can and will get cold in the evenings.

As usual if you wanna spend such beautiful and peaceful time, Riad Zawia is always there to offer it. Service is 10 out of 10, the host mr. Hamid is very kind and generous. The riad offers you such a panoramic and sunset view on its roof top.

This riad is ideally located in the heart of the old medina and close to all amenities. The owners, a couple, gave us an exceptional welcome and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. They were incredibly attentive, and we truly felt at home. A generous breakfast, both in terms of quality and quantity, was served in a small lounge within the riad, where we were thoroughly pampered. The value for money is unbeatable, despite the current economic climate. For your next stay in Essaouira, I highly recommend Riad Zawia. A big thank you to Zahra and Hamid, and best of luck to them.

Hamid is an exceptional host, with unparalleled kindness and attentiveness. Upon our arrival, he took the time to show us around the riad, its charming nooks and crannies, and its fascinating history. He also offered invaluable advice for discovering the wonders of the city, recommending authentic restaurants, must-see attractions, and talented artisans. The riad itself is a true architectural gem. Its refined decor, blending Moroccan tradition with modern touches, creates an elegant and soothing ambiance. Every detail has been carefully considered for the comfort of guests, from the plush bedding to the high-quality toiletries and, above all, the incredible view from our terrace.
