This place is a real gem. So lovely sitting on the roof top. And the food is delicious. The best chicken tagine I have had so far in Morrocco . Its a special experience
lovely terrace overlooking the medina of Salé and over to Rabat; very kind couple managing this riad & restaurant; delicious freshly cooked food; a pleasant break from walking in the souks! to access, you have to ring at the street level and after a few minutes they will come down to open and take you to the top level. thank you for the relaxing pause!
Bring plenty of time and make sure you aren’t starving when you come here to eat. We chose this restaurant near our Riad in Salé because there were very few alternatives or well-reviewed places nearby. When we asked at the hotel entrance if we were in the right place, we were greeted quite grumpily. However, once we made it up to the rooftop terrace, a very friendly man welcomed us. Ordering drinks was ok quick, but a little frustration started when it was time to order our food. We used their online English menu, but the person that did our order didn’t write anything down at first. Another Person had to come back a few minutes later to ask for our order again. There was a language barrier here, though we didn't experience this in any other Moroccan restaurants throughout our trip. I would highly recommend here using Google Translate or speaking good French. I ordered a vegetarian Tajine, but a fish Tajine was brought to my table instead. The food takes a long time (about 1.5 hours), though it is cooked fresh. The mix-up with the order was only noticed when the plates were already on the table, which was too late to fix. Thankfully, I eat fish, so it was fine for me, but a strict vegetarian would have been understandably upset. There is also a significant price difference—the fish is almost twice as expensive. The price is probably fair for a fish dish, but it's annoying when you didn't actually order it. That being said, the food itself was generally delicious and well-made. The prices are on the higher side, which is likely because it belongs to a hotel. Positive is that they accept credit cards. Overall, the service definitely needs improvement. I want to inform future guests to expect long wait times, potential language difficulties when only speaking English and only partially friendly staff. It’s a fantastic view from the top though.
Best Food I had in Marocco so far, you have to ring the bell and then go upstairs through a hotel or so. The Rooftop is very cozy and the food was amazing. Very authentic experience!
If you are looking for a true Moroccan experience, it doesn't come better than this. Don't be put off by the closed iron door on arrival, this is a small setting. A beautiful rooftop riad setting, wonderful menu with traditional Moroccan selections and the food was stunning. Service was 1st class and with the sounds from an oud being played adding to the atmosphere, it was perfect.
