La Ferme El Dar Marrakech

A beautiful setting, but a very disappointing and poorly managed experience. The property looks charming at first sight, but the reality did not match the price or the image advertised. I paid around €100 per night for a very small room, about 15 square metres, with a door that did not properly lock. The lock was ineffective, and the room had two openings ( one on the main road ) without real glass windows, only wrought-iron bars and shutters that did not close properly from the inside. There were no mosquito screens either. The room and the property felt poorly maintained: cracked walls, rust in the bathroom, dirty rugs and cushions that I had to ask to have removed, broken glass in some areas, and an overall impression of neglect. The most serious issue was the repeated power and water cuts. One evening, the electricity and water went off around 9 or 10 p.m. and were still not restored when we left the next day. This meant no water for the toilets, no shower, and no proper possibility to get ready before leaving for the airport. No alternative solution was offered by the management. The swimming pool was dirty and sticky, and I did not see proper maintenance or filtration. The breakfast was very basic and repetitive, with instant coffee; an espresso had to be paid for separately. Bottled water was charged €2.30, although tap water is not drinkable and no complimentary water was provided. The restaurant was also overpriced for the quality served. My chicken tajine was dry, overcooked, with just a few greasy fries, for around 160 dirhams. The €25 transfer was in a car without air conditioning, windows open, in 38/39°C heat. What is also frankly very unpleasant — and appears to echo what other guests have already mentioned in previous reviews — is the lack of accountability afterwards. Instead of simply acknowledging the problems and improving the situation, guests may be contacted by WhatsApp, email, SMS or even phone calls and asked to change their rating or amend their published review. This is not appropriate. This place has great potential, but it currently feels neglected, unreliable and poorly managed. I would not recommend it at this price level. I thank the owner in advance for any reply he may wish to provide. The purpose of this review is not to attack the property, but to describe our experience honestly and to encourage concrete improvements. This place has real beauty and potential, and future guests would clearly benefit from safer rooms, better maintenance, reliable water and electricity, and fairer pricing.
