Perfect location, this is our second time back here while visiting family in the area. We had a problem with our room and we were promptly moved to another one without any hassle. Plenty of choice for breakfast and the staff in reception & breakfast are just so lovely. Easy location - walking distance to everything in the city.

In Alessandria's historic center, it's hard to find a better value. The rooms are spacious and soundproofed (you can't hear the hustle and bustle), and in addition to an excellent international breakfast, you can enjoy a gourmet menu at the on-site bistro, which is truly interesting and delicious.

Terrible. Old and dirty hotel. In the morning I found a cockroach crawling around in the bathroom, I killed it, and in the following days its index legs remained, and the floor was never cleaned. Hot water came and went. All for €120 a night. Everything else was squalid.

We went with friends to a Bagna Cauda dinner at the renowned hotel. Upon arrival, as we went to our table to take our seats, a gentleman (who I don't think had anything to do with the hotel or the restaurant) told us that we'd have to pay for the dinner first (a rather peculiar move, reminiscent of a Pro-Loco dinner). At the reception desk to pay, the visibly annoyed receptionist asked us if we should pay in cash because she didn't have change. When we pointed out that some of us would be paying by card, she was equally annoyed and said that to pay by card, we'd have to go to the hotel bar (the POS terminal is there). Before dinner, there was a short presentation on the historical origins of Bagna Cauda, which I appreciated, at least, although the chef's delivery wasn't the most captivating and the microphone was overly reverberant, making it even harder to follow. The dinner began with a small anchovy appetizer (six fillets in all) with two different sauces and a slice of bread topped with Piedmontese agliata (very good). Then, guests were given small earthenware bowls filled with bagna cauda, and the first courses of crudités were distributed to share with the entire table (all visibly cut hours earlier: the vegetables had dry skins, some were oxidized, and the Jerusalem artichokes needed to be cut whole with blunt table knives). Then came the cooked vegetables. At this point, having finished the vegetables and realizing that dinner was coming to an end, we asked if we could still have some potatoes or carrots, and were told that no further courses were planned. As is tradition, at this point, the egg is served poured into the leftover bagna cauda, which, for convenience, they say, should have been served already cooked. However, the egg served in the leftover sauce was scrambled and already topped with more bagna cauda, making the result inedible because it was so salty. Moreover, since I didn't even have any bread left to wash it all down, I didn't eat it. To conclude: a cup of broth (excellent, I must say), an unscheduled selection of cheeses with honey and cugnà that weren't even presented as they were being served (probably Parmesan and Pecorino, a small piece each), and a half-melted lemon sorbet served in a plastic cup. Throughout the evening, winemakers occasionally spoke at the microphone to discuss the wines being served (four different wines, which, I must say, were not skimped on; as soon as a glass was empty, it was immediately refilled). The same gentleman who initially told us to pay would shush the guests, demanding they listen to who was speaking, particularly toward my table. The last time, he spoke to us in a decidedly grumpy and rude manner, so we decided to get up and leave without finishing the dinner we'd already paid for. Shortly thereafter, four other gentlemen at another table did the same. The maître d' himself then left the restaurant after about ten minutes to apologize and clarify that the hotel had nothing to do with the grumpy gentleman, also implying that it wasn't the first time he'd behaved inappropriately. At the time, I appreciated the maître d''s gesture, but in retrospect, I believe the situation should have been handled immediately. In conclusion, I can apologize if during dinner we spoke too loudly at my table (I don't think any louder than at other tables). This doesn't justify such rude behavior from someone whose job it is not clear, and service that didn't live up to the hotel's reputation. Since it was an event hosted by the hotel, not organized by it (I believe), I hope they'll be more careful about who they associate with their name in the future. The food was good, not exceptional; I wonder what the dessert was like...

Sorry, but worst Hotel i was in ever. Dark, a bit old (not to say shady). Old and partiaöly3damaged interior. Never again. I'd love to give 0 stars but that's unfortunately not possible.

The location is truly strategic, and there's parking available, just a short walk away in the city center. The staff is friendly and helpful, however, I don't consider the rooms to be four-star hotels, nor the breakfast. The minibar only had two cans of water (one for 1 euro and one for 1 oz of Coke), and the bathroom had the bare minimum, even less. I'd found a deal on some websites, but I couldn't book. I called the hotel directly and was told a higher price than the one I'd found on the offers (€95 instead of €68). I accepted, so as not to risk being left without accommodations, but they didn't specify on the phone that the price didn't include taxes, so in the end I spent €114.

The beds still have box springs and mattresses that sag. We don't expect this from a 4-star hotel. The rooms are also very noisy. The central heating has no way of regulating the hot or cold air in the room. The sudden cold of the season made us freeze. For a 4-star hotel, these aspects are basic.
