Grande Pharmacie Moderne

This pharmacy is easy to find, centrally located, clean, and well supplied. The experience is very different from the typical American pharmacy which sells OTC drugs in the supermarket format. Here, everything is behind the counter, which means you have to talk to the pharmacist and he/she will get you the medicine even if it's just OTC. I arrived mid morning and there was no wait. The pharmacist who greeted me was very helpful, very professional, and very knowledgeable. After I told him what kinds of drugs I needed, he quickly found them and patiently allowed me to examine the chemical compositions of each one thoroughly. None of the American OTCs I'm familiar with were available here. The Moroccan drugs the pharmacist recommended were chemically the same as the American brands at 1/5 the price (up yours Abbott labs). Being a former biology teacher and being somewhat fluent in French, I had no problem communicating with the pharmacist. However, if you are planning a visit and you can't communicate in French or Arabic, then you should bring a screen shot of the chemical composition of the drug you are familiar with. That way you can ask the pharmacist to help you ensure what you are buying is what you are looking for. All in all, I had an excellent experience in this pharmacy and I genuinely wish pharmacies in the US operate this way too.
