Excellent chicken tajine! Right next to the minaret of the great mosque of Meknes. Super friendly staff. Highly recommended!
A place to return to. The service was excellent. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious. Pastilla and chicken tagine with lemon and olives. Good portions and a reasonable price. The terrace right next to the minaret is fantastic. Highly recommended.
Delicious and plentiful food in a great atmosphere. The staff was very friendly; we are very grateful for their attention and recommendations. We started with some olives. The bread was delicious and warm. We had pastilla and chicken tagine, both perfectly cooked and delicious.
This restaurant is located in the heart of the old Medina, just across from the Grand Mosque, and from the terrace you have a wonderful view of the minaret, which at sunset glimmers like an emerald. For that reason alone it is worth having dinner here. But the food, it is really from another planet. I've been a few times to Morocco, I have travelled extensively and I've had memorable dinners in many places. No other Moroccan dinner I have had comes near this one: the starter, a salad maroccaine was delicious, and the zaaoluk that accompanied it was literally to die for. But what was to come was absolutely delightful: the tajine (poulet aux citron et olives) came sizzling and steaming, and it was hands down the best tajine I've had in my life. The presentation, the smell, the texture and then the taste... it was a treat to my senses. All the complex flavours of the tajine were balanced perfectly: the citric taste of the lemon, the bitterness of the olives, plus the tender chicken breast which melted in your mouth... on top of this, they added an extra flavoursome touch, with the liver used in the sauce giving it a real kick. I was absolutely delighted. Plus the staff were kind and friendly, making the whole experience exceedingly pleasant. I will be back again, and again to this place. It's a ten stars out of five.
The food was amazing. Everything was delicious. I recommend the lemon chicken tagine and the chicken pastilla. Family-run restaurant. Excellent service. Great views from the terrace. Reasonably priced. If we return, we'll definitely be back!
We had a good experience overall. Ms. Lala’s food was really good (Pastilla and Beef tajine). Service was ok and it was quiet. Having a view on the rooftop was nice too. We visited the Berber rug cooperative next to Gout de Meknes. Abdul showed us Berber rugs that were high quality, and we would absolutely recommend buying from this cooperative. The craftsmanship and materials are excellent. We would just like to clarify a small misunderstanding to our host Abdul. In Mexican Spanish, the expression I used “Vamos a dar la vuelta” meant “we’ll continue sightseeing” or “we’ll walk around a bit,” not “we’re going to look for a better price.” When we said that, I simply meant that we didn’t want to carry a Kilim while continuing to visit the medina / souk and were thinking to come back afterward to purchase it before leaving. We’re sorry if this was interpreted as a lack of confidence. With the final offer you kindly made, we would indeed have bought the rug. In any case, we wish you a blessed end of Ramadan. Worst tajines served in Morocco.
Good traditional dishes. Not turistic place but the food and prices are very good!
