The service is good but they need a toilet

Since 2019, we've been coming to Morocco for three months a year, and this place remains our worst experience. The cleanliness of the establishment leaves much to be desired; each person receives a tagine with very little to eat besides onions, and the toilets are definitely not recommended. A real shame.

Several years ago, I first went to Café-Restaurant Bab El Kasbah with my identical twin brother for coffees, and we also had several simple dinners on the outside covered terrace during our five-day stay in Taroudant. There were always stray cats hovering around our table, eagerly anticipating any scraps of food we cared to give them. Bab El Kasbah usually serves food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but on an 11-day stay in Taroudant during Ramadan 2025, there was almost no food, and there were no customers eating. There are two flat-screen televisions for watching football games and other programs, one on the outside covered terrace and one inside. The entire indoor area and outside terrace was renovated in late-2025, so it is now more attractive. The inside dining room has floor to ceiling glass doors and windows on two sides so there is a panoramic view of the outside. Inside, the 13 tables have upholstered but not particularly comfortable maroon colored chairs. The outside tables have umbrellas to shade you from the bright sun and heat. Café-Restaurant Bab El Kasbah is centrally located and is ideal for people or horse and buggy watching and a good place to take a short break or rest while exploring Taroudant. Bab El Kasbah was open during the month of Ramadan in late-February 2026 and food was available, along with tea or coffee, orange juice, water, sodas, etc. I noticed that some tourists had ordered brochettes and couscous. The next evening, I decided to order a cheeseburger and stressed to the waiter that I wanted hot and crispy frites. When my cheeseburger arrived, it was lukewarm, almost as if it had been precooked. The pommes frites were not hot and crispy, so I sent them back. The waiter did not seem to understand that I wanted the fries hot and crispy. Five minutes later, he brought a saucer containing only ten or twelve fries, so I was disappointed. The cheeseburger did have a slice of tomato and some lettuce, but it was smothered in a lot of sauce, but my bun literally disintegrated as I began eating. It became such a mess that I had to walk up to the counter and get two more paper thin napkins to wipe my lips and fingers. The service by the waiter was slow and not attentive because he was rushing about serving a dozen other customers sitting at outside tables. The Wi-Fi is strong, and there are four electrical outlets inside for charging telephones. There is a European toilet available for customers. Credit or debit cards are not accepted. There is no smoking inside.

Good burgers and pasta, and above all, very reasonably priced.

You can eat well for cheap. It's open during the Ramdam festival.

The vegetarian Tagine was peas carrots and a lot of onions and a tiny portion. The Cous cous advertised 7 vegetables so I was expecting a lot more

Stay as far away from this place as possible. The tables are dirty and stained—it's disgusting to sit there. Not to mention the state of the bathroom. The waiter didn't bother to take our order, telling us to write it down on a piece of paper. Ultimately, it turned out they didn't have regular pizza. We gave up.
