Wonderful cafe’ with several little terraces. Great views of the city and the mosque. Delicious fresh juices and food was fresh and tasty. We came for lunch, but great at any hour and even sunset
No view, building site next door, got scammed with overcharge on bill. After reading lots of positive reviews on Google from local guides, I was happy to venture to the top of the souls and find Atay Cafe to experience the view etc. I thought the WhatsApp messenger option to contact them was a good idea so I messaged ahead to reserve a table. I got a response back after 30 minutes indicating yes. I replied back with a further question, but never got a reply. Not that difficult to find, would advise going during the day as some of the smaller and narrower streets don't have lights and some maybe put off by that, especially when walking back home, however we felt safe both ways. The restaurant operates on several floors, with the roof terrace being the main attraction. Unfortunately the view of the sunset is blocked by a very large tree and no matter where you are sitting on the roof terrace, you cannot view the sunset. In the other direction, you get a clear view of the rooftops, other roof terraces and the mosque tower in the distance. And in the dying light you can get some good photos. The food was ok, asked to order the lamb tagine and fish tagine, but both sold out apparently.....despite us being the first table in the restaurant that evening. Only one other table dined during our tie their between 8pm.and 10pm, so booking is definitely not required. We visited in the first week of July. Food was ok, chicken on the cous cous dish was a little undercooked but other than that it was satisfactory. When we were ready to leave we asked for the bill and was told to settle up downstairs. At the till downstairs we asked for the bill and the waiter said 955 MAD withiut ringing anything in the till or producing a bill. We asked for a paper bill to which he didn't want to give us. We made up an excuse that we were splitting the bill and needed a copy to work out who pays what. Reluctantly after several minutes he rung up the bill and then disappeared as he handed it to us. The bill total was only 855 MAD. He didn't respond when we asked him about it and that the price he told us before was 100 MAD. Obviously he was embarrassed having been caught out trying to overcharge us and con us out of another 100 MAD, which is not that much, but based on principles...stealing from customers and trying to con them is extremely wrong.
The food was very delicious. Highly recommend 👌. …
The atmosphere and the vibe is very nice, very Marrakech vibes. The only thing is that it's slightly overpriced but I still recommend going - if you're lucky you can see the mountains around Marrakech from the rooftop
Nice café with a rooftop, food is good but service is extremely slow. We asked for a starter and they brought it with our mains 30 mins after we ordered
Beautiful view over the Atlas-mountains, otherwise horrible experience! There weren't too many people at the time we were there so there was no reason to have this slow service. One of the waiter was just sitting doing nothing and chatting with the others, visibly they didn't really care about the customers' wellbeing. We had to wait 15 minutes just to get informed that they run out of almond tart. Then we had to wait another 20 minutes to get cookies instead. Overall the waiters aren't polite or hospitable with the customers so we left the place with disappointment. Too bad because the coffee was nice.
Great rooftop with actually good food! Price is fair, tea was good, and not too touristy. I’d go back! Def one of the better rooftops in the area! Chicken was nice and juicy :)
Gorgeous rooftop bar and lovely coffee. Worth a visit.
