Expensive and dirty, stains on bed sheets, an uncomfortable mattress, fingerprints from the previous guests, smelly and a rusty bathroom.
The toilet flush was out of service, not a great touch.
"Sorry", that's all the front desk lady offered to me.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience here was frustrating from start to finish. Upon check-in, one manager told us the hotel had no air conditioning. After spending a night in a stifling room with only a small fan, another manager informed us the nezt day we could have switched rooms. If air-conditioned rooms were available, why weren’t we offered one in the first place?

I understand that things break and malfunctions happen—that’s part of running a hotel. But guests should not be left to suffer through avoidable discomfort if there are better options available. A simple room change would have made a world of difference.

Things only got worse. After returning from sightseeing, our room key stopped working. The front desk said a technician would be called and the door would be opened shortly. We waited nearly 90 minutes to get back into our room—and the key still didn’t work. We were never offered a room change, even though we were dealing with both a broken lock and no air conditioning. If the hotel was full, fine—but if rooms were available, why leave guests in a room that’s both uncomfortable and insecure?

We had no choice but to leave our room unlocked whenever we stepped out, including later that evening. That’s a serious safety concern.

To top it off, while waiting for the technician, we were offered tea. You’d think it would be a small gesture of goodwill given the circumstances—but no, we were charged for it.

The bathroom was smelly and water hose leaking badly. The service was very bad. When asked for towels since there was no towel in the room, we got scolded by the reception lady. We were very dissapppointed. The hotel should their service and their facilities.

Room size ok, toilet smell from sewer, water drainaged was blocked, no towel available upon checking, need to come down to reception twice to get towels. Service very bad. Did not attend to complaints. Not recommended for tourists

Review for Smarts Hotel, Rabat – Stay on May 10, 2025

I had a very disappointing experience at Smarts Hotel. Upon checking in, I was given a room with a very strong sewer smell, which made it extremely uncomfortable to stay in. I immediately reported the issue and asked to change rooms. Unfortunately, the staff informed me that there were no other rooms available.

What made the situation worse is that they still charged me the highest rate for the room, despite being fully aware of the sewer issue. I would have expected at least a discount or some form of compensation for the inconvenience, but that did not happen.

I do not recommend this hotel based on my experience. Basic comfort and honest customer service should be a priority, and sadly, that was not the case here.
