Riad Asna

I stayed here a few years back and had a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to meet Lamia who was looking after the riad whilst the owner was away, she recommended some wonderful spots and even invited us to join a dinner with her friends. The riad is hidden away and is a peaceful place in the madness of Marrakesh. Breakfasts on the rooftop were lovely. We had a wonderful stay.

We were a bit disappointed. Riad was quite dirty when we arrived (very dirty swimming pool) and very dirty terrace. It was impossible to sit there. The room was okay however there was not always warm water, I needed to take a few cold showers. The breakfast was okay, however every day was the same food (bread, egg, honey and jam). The stuff was nice but the guy was also trying to cheat on us: we ordered the dinner there and all menu was supposed to cost 24 euro (soup/salad, main dish, dessert). We decided not to order a full menu but just soup and main dish (not desert) and it was around 29euro. Sure, it's not much difference but it's not about money...it's about this that they try to make a fool of you all the time. This riad has a good potential to be very very nice. However if stuff will not be cleaning and taking care of it and trying to cheat on guests- then I don't predict a good future for this place.

Absolutely wonderful Riad. It is SO crazy in the hustle and bustle of Marrakech that it is a true joy to return to the calm tranquillity of Riad Asna. Veronique and the wonderful Jamila could not be more welcoming. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. Roof terrace is out of this world. Food is typical Moroccan and delicious. Every aspect has been exceptional. A truly authentic Moroccan experience with the warmth of close friends or family from the hosts. JUST WONDERFUL.

We have traveled for years, slept in caves, stilt house and even a tree platform in Africa -- but in each case we knew what to expect. Riad Asna is billed as something it is not. On Bookings.com it said: indoor and outdoor pool, 24/7 service, restaurant etc.. In reality there was one small very decrepit pool inside with tiles missing and rather dirty, there was NO service at all -- in fact we were often in the place by ourselves. The bedding was absolutely positively not fresh and No restaurant and breakfast was coffee, juice, jam a some stale bread and a single crepe. We understood it was Eid but then they should either close or offer half price. We left two days early, which we had to pay for anyway and then insult to injury were charged double what we paid elsewhere for a coke and a juice on our way out!! NOT a great experience to say the least. It may have been ok for half the price and if it had been billed as modest.

Had a very nice experience at Riad Asna- Veronique and her team are more than riad managers but vacation coordinators :) First off, the room was very nice and comfortable, the riad has patios, living rooms and dining rooms to hang out in. The meals cooked in-house are better than most restaurants you will find, you can try different Moroccan dishes and good Moroccan wine not found in the bars/restaurants I visited. Also the airport pick-up was worth the price to find the Riad easily in the medina. I recommend working with Veronique to rent a car for a day to discover the surrounding areas (cheap at about 35 euros a day, parking nearby). The Riad is close to the new town/Jardin Majorelle as well as accessible to the souks/Marrakech museum and Place Jamaa El Fna. I walked to all these places. Internet was good. The only downside I could say is the bathroom had only a curtain between the room and the bathroom- in case that would be an issue privacy wise (not sure the other rooms' situation). Would have preferred a proper door.
