Radisson Hotel Casablanca Gauthier La Citadelle

The only reason I’m giving this hotel three stars is because of the wonderful assistance from the General Assistant Manager, who truly made a difference. To start with the positives, the room was exactly as advertised—spacious, clean, modern, and very comfortable. However, despite being frequent travelers who have stayed at many hotels, we encountered several disappointing and awkward experiences that overshadowed our stay. First, we decided to have our laundry done by the hotel for convenience. Once it was ready, we were shocked to find that the hotel refused to return our clothes until we paid upfront—essentially holding them hostage. In our experience, hotels typically return laundry directly to the room, allowing guests to check everything before settling the bill at checkout. Fortunately, all our items were accounted for, but the process felt unnecessarily rigid and unpleasant. The following day, after a long city tour, we returned to find that our room key had been deactivated. When my husband went to the front desk to reactivate it, they refused to do so unless we paid for the laundry on the spot. Despite explaining that he would pay after letting me into the room, they only agreed reluctantly, as if I was going to let them keep my clothes worth 10 times the price of their laundry charges. To make matters worse, as soon as we entered the room, the phone rang with staff demanding immediate payment for breakfast—a charge that is typically settled during checkout. We were really confused but agreed to pay everything at once. However, when we opened the door to go downstairs to pay, we were met by a staff member holding a payment machine, ready to charge us on the spot. This felt unnecessarily aggressive and left us feeling uncomfortable. Moreover, our room key deactivated multiple times throughout our stay, requiring constant trips to reception to have it reactivated—a small but recurring frustration. The General Assistant Manager was understanding when we raised our concerns. He listened, addressed the issues, and kindly offered us complimentary breakfast as a gesture of goodwill, which we appreciated. However, the following day at breakfast, the host brusquely acknowledged us by our room number instead of greeting us by name, which felt impersonal and rude. Overall, while the hotel has potential—with a great location near the Arab League Park, clean rooms, and a nice rooftop—the procedures and staff training need a lot of work. I hope they address these aspects to improve the guest experience in the future.

The room was clean, but several issues made our stay disappointing. The hotel is located on a very noisy boulevard, and the pool is far too small for the size of the property—quickly becoming overcrowded. We also encountered a problem with the Chromecast, which prevented us from watching TV. After over 50 minutes with both the technician and the night manager, the issue still wasn’t resolved. We were offered a larger room on the 9th floor as a solution, but unfortunately, the 10th floor hosts a bar with a DJ, making it very loud. We asked if we could stay in the new room for just 1.5 hours to watch our movie and then return to our original room on the 5th floor to sleep. This was denied, as they insisted we could not occupy two rooms, even temporarily. Not wanting to repack our things at 9:30 PM, we gave up and returned to our room—still without a working TV—after spending over an hour trying to resolve the issue. For decent service, we strongly recommend choosing another hotel. There are certainly better—and likely cheaper—options available.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating, the room was spacious and clean. My only complaint was with the shower drainage as it always led to the floor getting flooded. Incredible breakfast and a great location with easy access to nearby attractions.
