I recently spent 10 fantastic days at Chill Art hostel, and I can confidently say it was the best hostel experience I've had so far! The staff went above and beyond with their warm and friendly service, making me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. The atmosphere at Chill Art is simply incredible. Not only are the guests friendly and easy to connect with, but the hostel itself is designed in a way that encourages interaction and fun. We had an absolute blast together, sharing stories, exploring the local area, and making memories that will last a lifetime. The facilities are top-notch, with clean and comfortable rooms that provided a perfect place to rest after a day of adventures. The common areas are vibrant and well-maintained, offering plenty of space to relax, socialize, and unwind. I can't thank the Chill Art hostel team enough for making my stay so special. If you're looking for an unforgettable hostel experience in Essaouira , look no further. Chill Art is the place to be. I can't wait to return and relive the wonderful moments I had there. Highly recommended!
This is an honest review of the Apartment. This is not a review of the dorms or shared spaces. The apartment was VERY cheap - so I imagine plenty of people don't complain. You get what you pay for. But I have to say, I am still disappointed. Even if it is very cheap, there are some easy wins they could do to make the room feel cleaner. The shelf in the bathroom is absolutely caked in dust. Same for the plug sockets. Underneath the bed is horrendously dusty. The room has a strong smell of mould as I imagine the sunlight does not reach it to dry it out. This didn't do my asthma any good. These are easily solvable with a vacuum cleaner and mould spray. The kitchen is just not really functional. They do allow you to borrow stuff from the hostel kitchen, but then that kind of defeats the point.... In the kitchen is a very effective stove top burner, one frying pan and two pots. The frying pan is a non stick pan that has all but completely peeled away - I would not recommend anyone use this for your health. The pots are also overused and very old. These things are also cheap and easily replaceable, but it rendered the whole kitchen useless. We did not use it once, despite planning to. The breakfast appeared to be a croissant and a boiled egg, with various jams. Good for travelling 18 year olds, maybe... The bathroom smelled bad from the drains, not really their fault but wasn't pleasant. The shower had barely enough pressure to reach the top of the room and was rarely hot. The towel rack had mould on it. The "Private" terrace was also not so private. We're social people so we didn't mind, but someone actually came into our apartment, and we would frequently have people arrive on our terrace, confused, wondering what's through our front door. Again, an easy problem to solve with 1 single sign reading "Private" hung up above the doorway. We stayed in 4 different places in our trip to Morocco and nowhere else had even 1 of these problems. Everywhere was very clean and lovely. This was the cheapest, but cheap shouldnt also mean that they can't even be bothered to clean it or think about it. It really is as if they don't care at all. None of these things seem to be true of the other rooms!!! Just to reiterate - this is the apartment we are talking about. Oh - worth mentioning the bed. It was the comfiest in all of the places we stayed. That earns a star! The location is great, right in the Medina but far down an alleyway. So far in fact that it feels as though you have entered a pocket dimension where only this hostel exists, and only some stray cats can move between realities. If I were to come back, it would be only for Jambon the cat who frequents the terrace.
A charming place in the medina. The staff are very nice and patient to give you a tour of the place and show you around. The rooms are neat and tidy. You can hang out in the common room, drink tea and chat with people. There's a smoking area that oversees the whole medina. I also liked the small "easter eggs" in the medina leading you to the hostel. Overall, a cool place to stay at.
The Staff is very friendly and helpful. Thanks to Abdullah, he guided us to a nice bar with live music and was very kind. The rooms look nicer on the pictures, it's quite dark and the cleanliness was ok, if you can do without a shower good for you. The rooftop has broken chairs and doesn't invite to spend time there.
A lovley hostel right in the beautiful and busy medina of Essaouira. The building is amazing and it is exactly like on the images. It is situated in the very last corner of a small alley. Despite the noisy life on the streets it is totally calm inside. Perfect to unwind and relax next to some friendly cats. Rooms, showers and rest rooms have been clean, beds comfortable and spacious. The have a roof top terrace from which you can overlook alsmost the entire town and see the ocean. Only thing is, there could be more chairs and pillows up there. My favourite place was the common area on the ground floor. Beautifully decorated and perfect to connect and share experiences with other travellers. It comes with breakfast, which was freshly cooked and delicious. Wifi worked just fine. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful with everything. Especially Hicham, thank you for your suggestions, quality conversations and great evenings together. My experience there was a blast and i felt at home right from the beginning, highly recommended!
Most beautiful Hostel I've ever lived in The hostel is very beautiful, the staff is amazing, very helpful, and there is always a good atmosphere. It is very easy to find friends there. The sanitaries were better than usual in marocco. The prices are very fair, even for the breakfast. The only thing i didnt like was the coffee.
Against some pretty tough competition, Chill Arts is my favourite hostel of the last 10 years’ travelling. Beautiful, comfortable and amazing value. The staff are the best.
