We enjoyed a wonderful meal here, starting with a couscous marocain that was light, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The tajine was rich, aromatic, and cooked to perfection, showcasing the depth of Moroccan cuisine.
What impressed us most was the service — our dishes arrived quickly, yet the quality was outstanding. The staff managed to combine speed with attentiveness, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable.
This restaurant is a perfect choice if you’re looking for authentic Moroccan food served with efficiency and care.
Highly recommended!

The ambiance was okay, and the restaurant is located in an old Portuguese fortress, which is beautiful, clean, and very cozy. You feel comfortable the moment you walk in. Unfortunately, the experience goes downhill from there. The place feels like a tourist trap. The food was a letdown and didn’t reflect any authentic local or traditional flavors.

The Lamb Tagine was especially disappointing. It was swimming with fat, oil, and peas, with only two small chunks of meat. The quality and quantity were nowhere near worth the high price. Even the Moroccan mint tea didn’t resemble the real Moroccan tea you find everywhere in Marrakech and Fez. The taste is just different. If you’ve ever tasted real traditional Moroccan food, the difference is night and day.

Service was slow, and the staff seemed unfriendly and overwhelmed. Getting the bill took an unusually long time, even after requesting it multiple times. The staff were constantly rushing around without actually attending to customers. Overall, not an experience I’d recommend. I honestly wonder how this place receives such high ratings, because the overall experience didn’t come close to matching them.

A Wonderful Experience at La Sqala

I had a great experience at La Sqala restaurant. I tried the lamb with prunes and the Tangia tajine, and both dishes were delicious. The food was well prepared, full of flavor, and the meat was incredibly tender. I also enjoyed a cup of Moroccan mint tea (atai), which was excellent.

What truly made the experience special was the kind and thoughtful service. I was accompanied by my father, who uses a wheelchair, and the staff were extremely helpful in assisting us to access the restaurant and the restroom smoothly despite any challenges. Special thanks to Adil, Yaqin, and Khalil for their support and warm welcome.

I really enjoyed both the food and the hospitality. I would highly recommend this restaurant to friends visiting Casablanca, and if I return, I will definitely visit again.

I came here for breakfast and loved the calm, traditional atmosphere. La Sqala is set inside an old fortress near the Old Medina, and the Andalusian-style garden makes it feel like a peaceful oasis in the middle of Casablanca — especially lovely in the morning.

The Moroccan breakfast was generous and beautifully presented, with fresh bread, msemen, traditional spreads, olives, yogurt, and pastries, paired perfectly with mint tea and fresh juice. Everything tasted fresh and authentic, and it was a great way to experience local flavors in a relaxed setting.

Service was unhurried but friendly, which matched the laid-back vibe. Overall, La Sqala is a wonderful spot for a traditional Moroccan breakfast in a unique historic setting. A great start to the day.

It was a beautiful serene setting and experience. We enjoyed the Moroccan dishes. It felt like we transported to a different place. We went very hungry and the place was so busy that we didn’t get service for a while, and that was a bit frustrating. Also the menu was in French so my high school French and google translate helped a little
