Villa Maroc

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Maroc. It’s the most beautiful and authentic Riad - incredible attention to detail across the interiors, delicious breakfasts and dinners in cosy rooms with open fires and Moroccan ceramics and furniture. And when the sun shines you can sit on their spectacular terrace with views of the sea and Essaouira. Wonderful service and welcome from all the staff. I can’t wait to come back.

We holidayed in the Vila Maroc in January 2025 to celebrate an 80th birthday. We were a family group from 21 yrs old to 80. We loved staying here. It is a beautiful elegant Riad with individually decorated bedrooms, private dining rooms, rooftop relaxing and eating areas and wonderful staff. It feels like a home rather than a hotel where you can be left alone or attended to as needs be. We pottered around Essauira, went on an arranged day out and ate in and out. Lovely crafts to purchase at reception. I left a precious necklace behind and the staff went to great lenghts to get it back to me. Really loved it.

Went for traditional package hammam which is 650 dirham(about 50 eur/gbp). It was as follows 1. Get under the shower for a couple of minutes 2. Had shower gel put on me and left me for 5 minutes to get ready for next stage 3. Under the shower again 3. Getting scrubbed. 4. Under the shower again 5. Honey, argan oil & salt mix on me and left that for another 5-10 min. 6. Quick Shower again 7. Dry and getting a massage on back and shoulders for about 10 min. Over in about 45 min Might just be me but except for the massage I would have been more pleased to do that in the hotel bath by myself. If that is all there is at that price not recommending it

Hammam experience, unfortunately it was really expensive and poor quality. The session was less than an hour, the gowns were oily, the massage was weak. Not worth 1,300 dirhams for 2 people. Will not return or recommend

We booked the New Year’s Eve dinner for 1,450 MAD per person (drinks not included). The house itself is beautiful: a stunning rooftop terrace, multiple small dining rooms with fireplaces, and a very atmospheric setting. The surroundings truly made the evening feel special. Unfortunately, both service and food fell far short of what this price suggests. The service appeared uncoordinated and frankly untrained. There were no designated waiters for the individual tables, drink orders were not proactively taken, and staff visibly struggled with basic serving and clearing. Overall, it felt as though the team was overwhelmed by the logistics of serving around 60 guests at the same time. The food unfortunately was equally disappointing: the fish and rice were severely overcooked, and the remaining buffet dishes were, at best, average. Given the comparatively steep price point for the dinner and the hotel’s 5-star designation, expectations were understandably high. Unfortunately neither the service nor the kitchen came close to meeting them that night. Food & service: 2 stars. The beautiful setting ultimately saved the evening, which makes it all the more disappointing, and honestly surprising, that a professional standard of at least 3-star level was not achieved.

Very cool and quirky. The rooms are broken up interestingly. The spa is awesome, the food smells amazing (although we did not eat there). Very nice staff, great breakfast. Can be noisy in the area because of birds and prayer announcements as early as 5:30am. The smells and views of the sea are featured in this property to give you the full Moroccan!
