Riad Fes Lala Zahra

COMPLETE UNSANITARY CONDITIONS AND NOT A SINGLE CLEANING DURING MY ENTIRE STAY. NOT EVEN ONCE. I honestly do not understand where all the positive reviews for this riad come from, because the reality is completely different from the beautiful description on Booking. First of all, the location is extremely inconvenient. The riad is deep inside the Medina, far from taxi access, and you have to carry heavy suitcases through narrow alleys, stairs, and constant uphill/downhill paths. Leaving the riad means dragging luggage uphill through a large part of the Medina. If you travel with large suitcases, are elderly, or have mobility issues, I absolutely do not recommend this place. The riad is also very difficult to find. Google Maps is practically useless inside the Medina, and there are many scammers offering to “show the way” and then aggressively demanding at least 10$. The alley where the riad is located feels dark, noisy, and unsafe, especially in the evening. I would not recommend returning there alone after sunset. The room itself was dirty: dust everywhere, unwashed floors, dirty toilet, stains on the bed linen, terrible smell inside the room, and even cockroaches. There was also a noticeable smell of smoking/weed despite smoking supposedly being prohibited. The shower was almost unusable because the water barely drained and stayed around ankle level. The listing advertises daily cleaning, but during my entire stay the room was never cleaned. Towels were not changed, toilet paper was not refilled, and everything had to be requested separately. This is unacceptable for any hotel or riad. The Wi-Fi barely works. Booking advertises fast 74 Mbps internet suitable for streaming and video calls, but even near reception the connection was unstable, especially in the evenings. Noise is another huge issue. Quiet hours after 11 PM are not respected at all. Even after midnight there are constant loud conversations, shouting, and movement both inside and outside the riad. Sleeping was extremely difficult. Communication with the host was poor, and the hammam recommendation felt like a commercial scam. The hammam itself was extremely disappointing. Breakfast is very basic and mediocre. I have stayed in other riads in Fez before, and this is the first time I have experienced such poor hygiene, conditions, and lack of service. The description looks attractive online, but in reality it does not match the actual experience at all. I was so disappointed that I seriously considered requesting a refund and moving to another hotel. I do not recommend this riad. This was one of the worst accommodation experiences I have ever had.

Excellent! The Riad is very well locate and super confortable. The breakfast is the highlight with delicious food being served in a balcony where you can see the entire Medina. Mohammed was a great host and really made us feel at home :) 5 stars

Breakfast was great! Up on the rooftop, beautiful views, everything was perfect. Mohammed and family took very good care of us during our entire stay. This was one of the few places to stay in Morocco with good internet - which was a blessing for us to get a bit of work done. Beautiful Riad, great rooms, quiet and safe.

My girlfriend and I had a lovely time here. Location was perfect! Everyone there was so helpful and kind. They made sure we had everything we needed and made us feel at home. Really appreciated their help in actually physically guiding us to our taxi and dinner spots – as well as organizing our taxi ride. Truly a great experience, cannot recommended enough!

We had a lovely time here, beautiful views, perfect service, quite and safe. Mohamed took time to put the perfect Moroccan design with precious materials: cedar, copper, Moroccan tiles, plaster, traditional painting of doors and ceilings...

THE BEST RIAD IN FEZ! I highly recommend it. Clean and comfortable rooms. Beautiful decor, an incredible terrace with 360-degree views, and fantastic staff. Perfect for staying right in the heart of the Medina.

A superb view and a central location, we had a pleasant stay at Mohamed's, he welcomed us with pleasure, the room is pleasant and clean.
