What people mention
This Riad is absolutely stunning. The rooms, rooftop patio, pools were exactly what I wanted to see when staying in a Moroccan Riad. Stuff was very attentive, welcomed me with classic tea, were able check me in a few hours early, recommended the spa next door, and arranged a dinner on the rooftop, were able to offer early breakfast. The room I stayed in was very roomy and I had no issues with AC. the location was just a little hard to find, but once they show you the map with directions to the main squares it is super easy to navigate. I traveled solo and felt safe the entire stay
*Read this review before booking* Quick Overview - I rate this riad a 2.5/5. Would much rather pay extra and stay at a 4-5 star riad or hotel (look for actual hotel type staff when booking a riad, it can make or break your trip). They feel cleaner, safer, and overall more comfortable for the stay. There’s many reviews raving about this place, but trust me, both my wife and I were in complete shock when we arrived in our “junior suite” which felt like a cave hideout. Location - the riad is very difficult to find. You will be fully immersed within the locals who will heckle at you daily. From cab drivers to kids, but don’t give in and seem lost. It’s roughly a 5-10 min walk to the center of Medina. Staff - the staff guys are very nice and can speak English, French, and some Spanish. But don’t expect your typical 5 star hotel experience, these are single hostel living guys who just work for a living at the riad. Daily room cleaning service around 10am-11am so wake up before the ladies swing by. Taxi/Driver service - pre-book your driver pickup from the airport, this is crucial to making sure you don’t get lost. The drop off location for the riad is actually by one of the mosque. Almost like a taxi center which is a 5 min walk to the riad. The pre-book driver calls one of his friends who comes and takes you and your luggage to the riad. This individual will ask for money, don’t pay him, he doesn’t work for the actual riad. Do the same for your return flight, prebook a driver to take you to the airport. Food the riad - not the greatest. Would rather recommend eating elsewhere. Breakfast is included but it’s simple with bread, juice, tea, coffee. Safety - the location of the riad felt safe for the most part but you have lots of locals primarily males standing and staring at you. Just be very careful and cautious with your belongings. I never left my passport, wallet, valuables in the room as the main lobby area is easily accessible for anyone. Of course your room door has a lock, but still I didn’t take any chances. Views - the rooftop views are great. You get a complete 360 view of Marrakesh. There’s lots of pollution in the air so would recommend wearing masks to cover yourself from all the debris. When to ask for help - DO NOT ACT LOST!!! Locals can spot when you’re lost and will offer to help, this is there way to ask for money. Just have a map or ask the actual business owners for help/directions. They won’t ask for money. Negotiation - EVERYTHING IS NEGOTIABLE!!! The business owners know tourists are coming in with money so they inflate prices. The only thing that isn’t negotiable is restaurant prices, besides that everything can be priced down (taxi fare, souvenirs, clothing, etc). Just walk away if you don’t like the price, there’s many shops selling the same merchandise.
Stepping into this Riad feels like stepping into the home you've always wished you had. Everything from the decor, the breakfast and the personnel seems to have been designed to give you a relaxing experience - but with intricate details that keeps everything interesting. The Riad is designed so well it deserves a spot in a fashion magazine - with multiple niches where you can hang out in style and relax, great attention to detail and a very "zen flow" to the design - I don't even hesitate to call it among the top 5 establishments out of the hundreds I've visited over the years! We were met by the owner who gave us the warmest welcome I've experienced in any part of the world so far. Not only that, we were given updates on COVID measurements/restrictions both then AND during our stay. The vast knowledge of the staff also made sure we knew where to go, how to go there, and what to look for and avoid on the way. Everything was presented in perfect english, with a beautiful smile! The owner + staff also helped us with communicating with tour guides and similar which was greatly appreciated and helpful. I would, and will, recommend this place to everyone. It made our stay in the medina something truly special. Whether you're into something central, fancy, "homey" or relaxing - this is the place for you! Practical notes: Very clean rooms and premises (daily cleaning), varied traditional Moroccan breakfast with western extras, multilingual owner, amazing rooftop area with pool, nice and quiet, hotel shuttle (15€, more or less the same as the petite taxis), "mini-mart" close by, 10-15 min walk to the central square. Very practical overall.
A wonderful riad full of friendly, helpful staff offering great service and very nice food. About a two minute walk from the good stuff. A really nice terrace to have breakfast and dinner with great views of the city.
Please read before booking. This Riad is not for women or first time travelers to the area. The location is covered my locals attempt to scam you for money. On our first day arrival, the pick up driver handed us to some local men to show us how to get to the Riad. Those men wanted money. If You pay for an airport transportation, you don’t expect to handed off to street people and give them money. The other reviews are so true, DONT LOOK LOST. Looking lost will attract scammers to offer assistance for money. Yes, the room was beautiful and we enjoyed the spa. The same transportation driver took us to dinner and over charge us $100. I couldn’t enjoy myself because I was on guard for scams.
Riad very difficult to find. I was offered help to find the riad and we were led to an alley where we were robbed. This event, although not the responsibility of the Riad, negatively influenced the quality of the stay.
Small but traditional hotel
The riad is magnificent, both the rooms and the common areas. Breakfast and dinner are very generous and delicious. The staff are attentive and kind. The riad is very well located. We loved our short stay and would definitely return!
