A big thanks to Blue Sky Morocco for organizing my tour from Casa to Fes. I grew up in Morocco, but it’s been almost thirty years since I left so it was a discovery tour for me and my teenage son. We visited the ruins in Volubilis and had lunch in a village nearby. We had our own tour guide every where we went. Nourdine in Fes was great. He tried his best to keep us on cooler alleyways away from the crowds and the heat. He treated us to a special tea where the owner misted us with rose water. The Quarawiyn Mosque was also a special experience and I was happy to get the chance to pray there. The riad we stayed in was beautiful and I took so many pictures! Casablanca was my son’s favorite part of the trip. He loved the beach and pool. We are so thankful to Chafik and Valerie for planning our trip.

Amazing time in Marrakesh, the desert, and Fez thanks to Valerie and Chafik. They thought of everything. We told them that we wanted to see as much as possible and they took that to heart. In Marrakesh, the riad was spotless, our driver had spent time in Florida and spoke great English, and the guide really knew his stuff. The Sahara desert was an unforgettable experience. We spent two days at Sunrise Palace. The staff were really sweet and attentive and the desert outings were a lot of fun. Fez was really special too. It was more relaxed than Marrakesh. It's the oldest city in Morocco so we learned a lot about the history. Our guide took us to a zelige workshop and the owner showed us how he makes the tile patterns you see every where here. This is our second time to travel with Valerie. She remembered how much we like the vineyard tour that she arranged for us in Italy so she got us to visit a famous vineyard near Fez. It was the perfect touch.

We had an amazing experience with Blue Sky Morocco traveling as two families with kids 9 to 16 and our husbands. Our guide, Rachid, made the trip. Incredibly knowledgeable but fun and engaging. We all loved Rachid. He kept the kids interested and added humor, stories, and just enough culture without it ever feeling like a lesson. There were also small, thoughtful touches along the way, little gifts and acts of kindness that made it feel personal. The trip felt like three experiences in one. The Medina of Marrakech is raw, busy, and full of energy, almost like stepping into an Indiana Jones scene. It was so fun for the girls to barter and explore, but it could be overwhelming for some, which is why having a guide makes all the difference. The newer part of the city is polished and high-end with great restaurants and home to some top hotels in the world! The Atlas Mountains bring a completely different, more authentic side with villages, camels, and incredible views. The kids loved this as well. The hot air balloon ride was a huge highlight because we have tried this three different times, booking in various places, and all were canceled due to weather. Floating at sunrise, then having tea and fresh breads in traditional tents with Moroccan rugs and floor pillows afterwards, was unforgettable. Even with weather challenges a few days, Blue Sky Morocco always had everything handled behind the scenes so it felt seamless. Highly recommend Blue Sky Morocco!

We would like to thank Chafik and Valerie for the great time we had while in Morocco. Both of them had told us that Morocco was one of those places that really hit you when you were at the airport. They were right – the trip from the airport was only the beginning of a wonderful week. First off, a stop for some pomegranate juice from a local vendor. Watching him squeeze the juice from the pomegranate and, then drinking it right there on the street in Casablanca was a treat. The visits to the markets, the trips around town to see the streets of Casablanca were delightful. We actually have a photo of an Audi parked beside the road with a horse drawn cart passing it on the road. That is the thing I was so impressed by Morocco was the old and new cohabitating in the same time. From our widow at the apartment we stayed, I counted 16 tower cranes working on the buildings of a modern city, while meanwhile below me the streets were full of people on bicycles, motorcycles, cars, trucks and an occasional horse drawn cart. A trip to a local outdoor market was perhaps one of the highlights to our trip. There we met a group of young men we called the Spice Boys. They sold all type of fresh spices, olives, fruit, nuts. They were a delightful side trip during our stay. A trip to the largest Mosque in Africa was great. To hear the call to prayer and the reading or should I say singing of the Koran. After a few days stay in Casablanca we traveled to Marrakech. A historian guided us around some of the most historic places there was so very good explaining about the city and the different ages that this old city had passed through. It was great to travel on streets that had been there hundreds if not thousand of years. To hear about the Jewish settlements there in the early days and to see Jewish art work on a lot of the palaces. To visit the market there and see all the artisans, the snake charmers, musicians and things for sale. Marrakech is a more modern city than Casablanca because to the tourist trade that is there. But just outside of Marrakech is the Atlas Mountains where the Berbers have lived since before there was a Morocco. I think the trip to the Atlas Mountains and Berber market was my favorite place we traveled. I am not a world traveler but I like seeing people that are just that - people. There is nothing fancy about the Berbers and as such there is nothing fancy about where they live. It is a very humble place that they call home. However, along the river in the mountains there is food – lots of food and if you tell them, you want a place by the creek – one leg of your table will be in the creek. They are there to serve. Actually, to attempt to take pieces of this trip and write about just them leaves a lot out of the trip itself. The views, the sounds, the smells the rhythm of life in Morocco seen through a car window, an apartment window, or walking down the street can’t be precisely put into words without a lot being left out.

Val and the team at Blue Sky Morocco were exceptional from start to finish. We started out with ideas of the kind of experience we were looking for and what was important to us and they shaped this into the perfect trip. With their in depth first hand understanding of Morocco and its people is second to none. The ensured we had a wonderful experience from start to finish with local contacts to look after us throughout our stay.
