Yes, you need the skills of Indiana Jones to get there, but the search is well worth it. Great service from the staff in a restored 14th century Pasha's palace is quite an experience. A hearty breakfast each day and authentic Moroccan cuisine for dinner, what could be better? Ana's and Zach were most attentive the details that made our stay so enjoyable.

Beautiful place but I do not recommend. Pros: The place is gorgeous! One of the neatest interiors that we saw in Fez. It is close to most of the sites. Cons: The location is in the medina, but in an area where there are no stores and devoid of people. Just really narrow allies that are very difficult to navigate, even with Google Maps. What makes this bad is that the few people you do encounter in this area are men who purposely tell you are are going the wrong way or that the path is closed. Their intent is for you to follow them to who knows where and for who knows why. We did not feel safe in this immediate area and this impacted the quality of our time in Fez. The owners/managers were not trustworthy with us. One example is that although our reservation clearly stated that they accept major credit cards, when there they act as if the internet is down and therefore your only choice is to pay him cash. In general, we were creeped out by the main staff (except for the man in the restaurant who was very kind) . They were trying to get us to take free tours with them, but we had read of scams that they pull with their guests and therefore declined. We asked around and learned from several locals that these guys have a terrible reputation for scamming people. After doing more research online, we found examples that supported these claims. Summary: Although the place is beautiful and the food was delicious, I would discourage anyone from staying there, partly because of the location, but more so because of the owners/managers.

While the service was fantastic and accommodating and the terrace offered a beautiful view, the overall experience at this hotel fell far short of expectations. The rooms were extremely small, dark, and not well-maintained — cleanliness was a real issue. Despite being advertised as a 5-star property, I would generously rate it as a 3-star at best. The pool, which is prominently featured in photos, is more of a decorative element than a functional swimming pool. It looks nice, but don’t expect to actually use it for swimming. With better upkeep and more honest advertising, this place could improve, but as it stands, I wouldn’t recommend it to travelers expecting luxury or comfort.

We just spent 3 wonderful nights in this place. Not only the Riad is wonderfully decorated and amazingly clean but the manager and the staff were incredible and made our stay a very lovely and memorable experience. Do not miss the breakfast as you will have it with a breathtaking sunrise. I strongly recommend to do the Hamam and massage, the masseuses were amazing too!

I can recommend the place. What I liked: - Riad looks gorgeous, we stayed in different Riads and this one was definitely the most beautiful. - not only Riad itself is well decorated, but also the room - there is a nice terrace and a swimming pool Why not 5 stars - The area with Riad is a bit dodgy, on the way to it you get a lot of unwanted attention from locals. - in the end they asked us to leave a review on a Tripadvisor while standing behind our shoulders.

We were on the lookout for a place for two people, so we thought of exploring first and have a drink. At one place, a man named Hisham I believe was rather insistent, almost forcing us to order three menus if we wanted to stay (cause we were with 3). It felt uncomfortable, it felt like he kept emphasizing money over hospitality. This made the decision easy for us to leave. Instead, we chose Riad Salam for the week, and it was a completely different and much better experience. If anyone is reading this, I highly recommend going to Riad Salam for a more positive and professional stay.

I cannot recommend this riad more highly. The owner, Hicham, went above and beyond to not only make us feel like honored guests, but like family. Before going into more detail, let me stress that Hicham is a man of many talents. He's an incredible host, but also does restoration work, is a trained tour guide, and speaks 6 languages! You can tell, as soon as you walk into the riad, that this was a labor of love. It took years to renovate this riad, and it is breathtakingly beautiful from every angle, and every room. This is a perfect place to see several different types of craftsmanship: woodwork, mosaic, bronzework, furniture, and plaster. You could easily spend hours looking at all the details in this riad. There's also an amazing pool to relax in, with a beautiful blue mosaic tile. Upon going upstairs (either via a cute elevator or the stairs with motion sensing lights), each floor again displays exquisite attention to detail. Our room, which was on the second floor in the newer portion of the riad, had a beautiful mosaic floors, carved headboards and window shutters, stained glass, and the most amazing ceiling. The beds are VERY firm, which I've found typical of riads, and the sheets and bedding are very soft. Our bathroom was lovely, with a heated towel rack, and a bathtub. All in all, a lovely room for a cozy stay. The views from the roof are wonderful, and it is an amazing place for breakfast. It was also lovely to meet the resident turtles! The staff is friendly, helpful, and generous. They offered to carry our bags to the riad after helping us park, guided us to and from the riad each night, and were always willing to bring us anything we may need. They also have great connections for tours of Fes, which I highly recommend. My only warning: it is quite a trek from the parking to the riad, and I doubt we would've been able to find the riad ourselves within the medina. Many twists, turns, alleyways, etc. However, we were always provided with someone to help us navigate, and staff offered to carry our bags.

We stayed at this riad for 02 nights and we had the best Experience possible. As we booked, the staff was really gentle and tried to help us. When we arrive, we were picked up at the train station and it was not hard at all to go inside the medina. There are a lot of signposts indicating where to go. We went out at night and it was also really fine. All the pictures from the riad is very legitimate and true. Everything just like a palace. The rooms are very also very comfortable. The breakfast is fantastic, and the view from the terrace, where they served it, just made even better. All the staffs was trying to make us feel at home. Don’t miss the opportunity to do the SPA - it was a great and unique opportunity. If I go back to Fez someday, I’ll be at this Riad again. Thank you very much, Salim and all the team, for welcomed us.
