Riad Mumtaz Mahal

Had hammam and massage package with a friend. It was an excellent experience. You are washed, scrubbed etc and then we had massages. Everything was clean and a lovely venue/ambience, our masseuses were both kind, friendly and professional. We were both extremely relaxed at the end! Expect to be naked (apart from the little modesty pants) and very thoroughly taken care of!

It's simply fantastic. The rooms are large and very comfortable. The spa area is highly recommended.

Very pretty place and spa/massage worth trying

The riad is beautiful, but the pedicure was really bad. I asked for the pedicure with foot massage. I was put in a cool, dark side alcove where other guests were hanging out. A woman came in with a chair, sat in front of me and put a pillow on her lap. she did my pedicure with my feet on the pillow. If that sounds comfortable...it wasn't. Another woman brought in a lamp, but the lighting was still bad. The pedicure was painful, she kept digging into the quick of my nails, she used a metal grater to remove calluses, pressing really hard. It was painful. The massage was a complete waste, she hardly did anything. I usually love this part of a pedicure, but it seemed to be over before it began. She seemed to just rub lotion into my feet. She didn't put down a base coat or a top coat. Just two coats of color. In the dim light, the end result looked fine. But after I left, I noticed that on one toe, the polish was so thick it had bubbled and burst, so there's a black dot where there is no polish ... and the color doesn't cover the whole nail on my toes!

I have stayed at Mumtaz Mahal Hotel in Essaouira many times, always coming back for its beautiful and unique atmosphere. But during my stay in March, the service was truly exceptional — the best I have experienced there so far. Breakfast was served beautifully and right on time every morning. The receptionist, Abdelmoghit, was incredibly helpful, kind and well-organized — he took care of everything with such professionalism that our stay felt completely relaxed and enjoyable. I would also like to thank Fatima Ezzahra for her warmth and attention — it’s clear that both she and Abdelmoghit care deeply about guests’ comfort and well-being. Thanks to their wonderful hospitality, I’m looking forward to returning again this month. Highly recommended – especially with this fantastic team.

Poorly managed

Just brilliant in any category. The Riad is nothing but amazingly magical, the restaurant, the atrium & the rooms are captivating in their detailed design & atmosphere creation. The rooms are comfortable & spacious. The location is just perfect: within the Medina walls however in a much quieter section, yet walkable pretty much anywhere of interest. We had significant interaction with the staff having rented the entire riad for an event. Great team work, lovely friendly attitude & good people. The proprietor is amicable, knowable & efficient. It was a real pleasure staying in the Mumtaz Mahal!

Absolutely Perfect!! Thank you thank you thank you for ending our Moroccan adventure on the highest of notes! Everything here was absolute perfection and they offers up a Master Class in hospitality! From the welcome tea and cake to every recommendation to the lovely fresh roses / rose petals to your final farewell — all perfection. Unfortunately we were only able to stay for 2 of 3 nights originally booked due to a flight change but we enjoyed every moment of our stay. I wish we hadn’t skipped breakfast the first morning as we were running late to an excursion — it was absolutely delicious! If you’re visiting Essaouira, do yourself a favor and let staff take care of you! You will be so happy you did!
