Salut Maroc!

I truly would not recommend this place, especially for Moroccans. From the moment I walked in with a friend, the experience was insulting. I hadn’t even made it to the restaurant area or had the chance to ask for anything, and the staff immediately said: “we don’t have hot drinks.” It didn’t feel like information it felt like they were saying: “we don’t want you here.” When we tried to sit down, we were told we couldn’t have a table with a view unless we ordered food. I agreed, but then watched tourists being seated in the best spots with only drinks and no questions asked. That double standard was impossible to ignore. The food and drinks were shockingly bad for the prices they charge tasteless, low quality, and honestly a waste of money. Even dessert, which should be simple, was disappointing. The view was the only nice thing, but how can you enjoy it when the whole experience is overshadowed by rude, dismissive, and discriminatory service? I left feeling frustrated, disrespected, and like my time and money had been thrown away. Essaouira has so many other spots with beautiful views, a welcoming atmosphere, and food that actually matches the prices. Salut Maroc is the opposite overpriced, unwelcoming, and not worth it.

We were fortunate enough to extend our holiday and stay for one night in Salut Maroc and we’re so grateful that we had this chance as our impression of the hotel and the team behind it completely changed. Learning about the hotel’s concept as well as the care and effort that the owner has put into it was inspiring and impressive. Our room Saffi was breathtakingly beautiful, the attention to detail meant that every angle had something fun to look at. This goes on throughout the hotel, from the decor, to the furniture, to the artwork and so on. Both the room and the products provided smelt absolutely delicious and we are keen to replicate it at home! We finished our holiday in Morocco on the terrace eating a delicious paella which was a great portion for two people. The signature cocktails were so tasty too. Heaters meant that we were warm despite the wind and we honestly just had the cosiest evening. We could have sat there all night. The servers were attentive and friendly and ensured we were comfortable. Lovely ambiance, enjoyable live music and great company. We got up to the terrace early enough on our final morning watch the sunrise also and were so glad we did. Unforgettable moment. We’re planning to come back to Essaouira and we would recommend Salut Maroc to all our friends. Thank you to all the staff we met - lovely Hamza carrying our bags, Ayoub and Reda on the terrace and everyone else who attended us too. And huge thank you to Anas and Helen, you absolutely topped Sean’s birthday trip with your generosity and kindness and we could not be more grateful :)

We really enjoyed the vibe and the food at this restaurant. Amazing views from everywhere and the music makes the whole experience even better. Yes you do pay more at this place but you get highest quality everything in return. Take a jumper as it does get chilly and windy on the rooftop.

Restaurant Review Only I read some of the many negative reviews before going so I was holding my breath before assessing the overall experience. Our experience with the staff was good, they were friendly, and attentive. Absolutely no complaints at all. I have a gluten allergy and our waiter was very good with this, double checking with me regarding certain ingredients etc. We arrived an hour before sunset and were given a choice of tables. All great. Our starter was delicious, we went with the Octopus salad which was generous and enough for 2 people, could almost fill you up! Octopus cooked to perfection and really soft! Zero chewy. I then went with the Grilled Sea Bream with creamy mashed potatoes. Again cooked brilliantly it was delicious. We felt really relaxed here, no pressure to finish, pleasant service, and front row view of sunset. All wonderful. Also as a foot note, yes it is a little on the expensive side but it was a fantastic experience and very memorable for us so we were happy to pay that little bit extra.

Rooftop drinks review: Good views. The drinks we ordered tasted like juice …. Which is unfortunate considering the high price. Super crowded around sunset time, as expected. Barely space to move. However, the band playing made the experience nice.

Beautiful traditional hotel with a touch of modernity and colors with an attached restaurant on a terrace on two floors with a beautiful sea view. Menu that mixes both Moroccan and European tradition. The service was exceptional and very warm especially from the waiter Reda who despite his work stopped to give us more information about the city and to take souvenir photos.

Our 5 stars come from the heart, literally. A few things that would normally drag a rating down a little no longer matter when you have been enchanted by the truly extraordinary atmosphere of the Salut Maroc. If you sit in your room, which has been furnished with great attention to detail, at the open window and look out directly onto the wild sea or have breakfast (very good) or dinner (also very good) on one of the roof terraces, accompanied by cool live music, you will forget that the beautiful copper bathtub requires quite some mobility of your body when showering, that there is very little space for luggage in the room and that the king-size bed was obviously made for rather small kings. We already knew when we booked that our Mogador Seaview Double was a ‘small double’ – and can only recommend it. If you're looking for romance with an oriental touch, you won't find a better place. Incidentally, the service, which was criticised in some reviews of the restaurant, was impeccable all round. Super-friendly, never intrusive waiters, and also the best and at the same time pleasantly casual service in the hotel

An amazing rooftop with great vibes, lively music, and delicious cocktails. The atmosphere was fun and energetic, perfect for a night out with friends. The view from the rooftop added an extra special touch to the evening.
