La Sqala

One of the absolute highlights of my time in Casablanca. Located inside a beautifully preserved historic Portuguese fortification, La Sqala offers a unique setting that combines history, architecture, and authentic Moroccan cuisine. The courtyard is peaceful, full of character, and creates a wonderful atmosphere from the moment you arrive. The service was excellent throughout the evening—friendly, attentive, and happy to explain the traditional dishes. The biggest surprise was the Chicken Bastilla. I had never experienced anything quite like it. The incredibly thin, crispy pastry wrapped around perfectly marinated chicken, while the toasted almonds, cinnamon, and powdered sugar created an unexpected but flawless balance of sweet and savory flavors. Adding the spicy sauce served on the side elevated every bite even more. It was a true explosion of flavors and easily one of the most memorable dishes I’ve had in a long time. The Beef Tagine was also excellent, with tender, slow-cooked meat and rich flavors. To finish the meal, I ordered the Frozen Nougat, and it was the perfect ending. Light, refreshing, and beautifully balanced, with figs, dates, almonds, walnuts, and delicate orange blossom notes. It wasn’t overly sweet and complemented the traditional Moroccan flavors perfectly. If you’re visiting Casablanca, La Sqala is an absolute must. Outstanding traditional Moroccan cuisine, a beautiful historic setting, exceptional service, and one of the most memorable dining experiences in Morocco. I would definitely come back.

Reasonable prices for tourists, but very expensive for local Moroccans. Food was great but not as spicy as Indian food. The service and decoration of the restaurant was great. Traditional Moroccan food available, not western ones. Menu is attached with prices.

If you're visiting in the evening, don't miss the Moroccan harira, which is served after evening hours and is absolutely worth trying. The place is usually quite crowded, but the lively atmosphere and beautiful ambience make the wait worthwhile. I would highly recommend not missing La Sqala if you're in Casablanca, even for a short stay. It's a wonderful place to experience authentic Moroccan cuisine in a beautiful setting.

Whether you stop by for lunch or dining, Sqala is such a unique experience! The restaurant is built right inside an authentic 18th-century fortress wall. The setting is absolutely gorgeous with the fountains, and eating traditional tajines in a spot with so much history makes the meal feel extra special. The food there is just wow! Authentic Moroccan cuisine loaded with local vibes. What really set the experience apart for me was the incredible atmosphere, we were treated to a live Gnawa musical performance right in the middle of the courtyard, which was so lively and fun to watch. On top of that, seeing the traditional high-pour mint tea, a true Moroccan tradition. If you want great food and a true taste of Moroccan culture, this place is a must!

La Sqala is truly one of the best places to experience authentic Moroccan cuisine and hospitality in Casablanca. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed by a beautiful traditional setting with lush gardens, historic architecture, and a peaceful atmosphere that makes the experience unforgettable. The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish reflected the richness of Moroccan cuisine, and the fresh mint tea was the perfect finishing touch. What made the experience even better was the warm and attentive service. The staff were friendly, professional, and made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our visit. If you’re visiting Casablanca, La Sqala is a must-visit. It’s the perfect place to enjoy authentic Moroccan food, culture, and ambiance. Highly recommended, and I look forward to coming back!

The prices are a bit high but the location is nice and the food good and very well presented. The service is a bit slow. I recommend it.

The atmosphere is nice, but the service at La Sqala was poor. Staff were rude and many items were unavailable. Definitely overpriced for what you get.

The tanjine is slightly higher priced than other restos but taste wise, yummy. Also the chicken option is a half chicken so it's good for 2 people already.
