What people mention
Superb view of Tangier
The goodies: Outstanding view, marvellous structure, beautiful atmosphere, inventive French-Moroccan cuisine. The baddies: Very slow service, rude owner (or possibly racist?), over-priced. You decide.........
It says they do lunch on the website went today as we was recommended it and it wasn’t open. A man walked past and ignored us even though he saw we had just rang the bell and then opened the door to then we asked are you open and he said no at 7pm. Was not to impressed so we walked up and found a lovely traditional place around the corner
Beautiful place! But if you're only having one drink... avoid it! The orange juice, heavily diluted with water and lots of ice, costs €6 🤨 and is served rudely! We left without even drinking it.
Really overpriced (30$ for appetizer+entrée or 39$ for 3 course menu) Also 8% service fee to be added.. The food is traditional, well done and deserves 4 star. Service is suuuuuper slow, it's been now 2 hours I'm there and I'm still waiting for desert... but maybe that's because I came to the restaurant relatively late, at 21.15pm?? The view is nice though, I strongly recommend to get there and have tea while enjoying the scenery
Hotel Nord-Pinus is located on Riad Sultan in the Kasbah of Tangier. It is palatial in size but never has many guests, even for dinner. When I walked by the entrance, it just seems uninviting with its locked door. There is no doorman, and I have read reviews where people say they have waited five minutes or more after ringing the doorbell for anyone to come down the stairs to open the entrance door. All of the five bedroom suites are beautiful and tastefully decorated, and furnished with antique beds, and each suite has a luxurious bathroom. There is a spectacular rooftop bar and overpriced restaurant with unbeatable panoramic views of the the Kasbah, the Mediterranean, Tanger Ville Port, the new Marina and the coast of Spain in the distance. The riad-hotel-guest house-former palace has WiFi throughout and a full delicious breakfast is included. It does not have an elevator so it is not suitable for everyone. The service can be frustratingly slow and frankly, 390 Dirhams for a dinner is somewhat expensive for Tangier, and that does not include drinks or the mandatory 8% service charge. A mint tea costs 50 Dirhams. Sadly, this former palace, that had been rented for a decade by a rich American friend for her part-time Tangier home, who also had two large apartments in Madrid, has a small staff. She later built a villa on the Mountain. If you have money to burn, it is fine. But most people do not wish to pay two or three hundred Euros a night, plus more for lunches or dinners. If you insist on staying in the Kasbah proper and want to have direct ocean views, and if you don’t mind paying New York, London or Paris prices, then Hotel Nord-Pinus is fine. I hope this hotel might reduce its dinner and lunch prices. They would get far more customers. I would love to have a drink at the bar, if only someone would come to open the front door.
A magnificent place, with beautiful furnishings and decor, and professional servers... BUT the owner is unfortunately not up to the task: a lack of politeness towards guests (especially non-residents) as well as her staff, which creates a stiff atmosphere despite the good music playlist. This hotel needs a warmer soul to make guests feel truly comfortable – a real shame for this place in Tangier, which deserves better!
Avoid this place. The waiter/manager (who was the only person there) is incredibly rude to customers. Apparently, taking photos is forbidden, but according to him, they're not obligated to post signs. If you do take pictures, he comes over to tell you it's prohibited, that he was happy to let you take a few, and that he doesn't have time to follow you everywhere. Also, you have to order before even thinking about going inside, as it's in their house rules. At first, we thought he was the owner because he threw the manager's number in our faces when we complained. The place is quiet and pretty, but it might ruin your day!
