Dar Sultan is a lovely Riad. Very beautiful and full of Moroccan art, crafts, textiles and some other crazy things. Every corner is a new display. But - the stairs in there are very very steep. Anyone with walking difficulties will struggle. There is no lift or rooms on the ground floor. If you think you will struggle, this is not for you. The rooms are very nice. The twin room was small and quite dark, so I ended up booking a second room because we didnt have enough room there was no floor space in the twin room and not much privacy for the bathroom. The double room had a lot more space and was more comfortable. And the bathroom was at the other end of the room rather than right next to the bed like in the twin room. We struggled with the locks on the doors every time we needed to get in, there was definitely a trick to it. The location is lovely with a lot of plants outside. The area is clean and within walking distance of some great restaurants. However like most buildings in a kasbah, there is a lot of street noise. I actually like it - I have Shazam to get the names of tracks people listened too. And I like hearing the kids in the street - until midnight even. If you are a light sleeper, take ear plugs. Breakfast is really good and served on the rooftop. Different things just kept coming up. And, some gluten free alternatives were also available. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. All were fluent in French and ai am supposing Arabic too. English wasn't great but you can get by. The staff were happy to help us arrange taxis or cars for tours. I recommend Dar Sultan.

Frankly disappointing. We paid €150 a night for a tiny room with a low ceiling, whose only windows overlooked the terrace where other guests were having breakfast. You really have to love cats and the smell of their urine to enjoy this place, as they've completely taken over. Being allergic, I wish I'd been informed beforehand. And to top it all off (though not really their fault, except that we followed their advice), our car's gas was siphoned in the parking lot!

After our 2nd week in Morocco, we decided to spend a night or 2 in Tangier. We happened upon the Dar Sultan and EVERYTHING changed. This old beautiful building is delightfully colorful and appointed with traditional and whimsical things - somebody clearly has a flare for decor! The rooms are all uniquely named and decorated, and some have private terraces. Our stunning room was well-furnished with lots of shelf/closet space, and the bathroom had many elegant touches, in addition to an excellent shower, including fragrant soaps and bath products, fresh robes and towels, and hair dryer. Everything worked flawlessly. The breakfast was beyond description: BEST breakfast in Morocco; right up there with best EVER. Alas, the heart and soul of Dar Sultan was its (currently) 3 staff members: Nadia, Nadia, & Ismail. These 3 people welcomed us, helped us, cooked and cleaned for us, accompanied us when they felt it necessary….to infinite. We remain speechless in describing how very warm and kind these people were. The city of Tangier was a lovely surprise - but at Dar Sultan, the staff’s energy, the environs, and the OUTSTANDING breakfast compelled us to stay for FIVE nights instead of 1-2! We’re sad to leave, and hope that you don’t miss the chance to have an unforgettable experience of your own.

I rarely write reviews, but it was such a perfect stay that I felt compelled to write one. This is a very beautiful establishment, and everyone working there is extremely nice! Breakfast was gargantuan, and the rooms are very cute. Next time I visit Tangier, I will definitely stay there again!

Great hotel in the middle of the Kasbah area in Tangier. Awesome rooms, rooftop terrace with a view, and perfect location. Ask the host for Karim as a city guide. He gives you a really good tour of the city.

This is a wonderful riad! Ismael is wonderful with setting up anything you need. The terrace is beautiful, good breakfast and amazing dinner!

The staff welcomed us with a wonderful welcome. Upon arrival, we were offered mint tea and honey-flavored pastries. The property is traditional and very well-maintained (perhaps a little overstuffed). Our Kasba room on the second floor met our needs and was quite quiet. The breakfast, served on the beautiful terrace, was excellent (I would include dried fruit and some local sweets, as well as traditional bread instead of baguettes). It's located in the upper part of the city, but close to taxi service. I'd just like to make one suggestion: inform guests that the ensuite bathroom has no window and has openings that don't provide adequate noise and odor isolation (perhaps I'd install an exhaust fan). The room's layout might make people feel uncomfortable.
